Quintero is a Cuban cigar brand established in 1924 by Agustín Quintero and his four brothers in Cienfuegos, a city in southern Cuba. Unlike many other Cuban brands, Quintero originated outside Havana, giving it a unique regional character. Initially, the brand produced handmade cigars using tobacco from the Vuelta Arriba region. In the 1940s, production expanded to Havana, incorporating premium Vuelta Abajo tobaccos. However, in the early 1960s, following the nationalization of the Cuban cigar industry, Quintero shifted to primarily machine-made cigars using short filler tobaccos. In 2002, Habanos S.A. returned to handmade production, utilizing Tripa Corta (short filler) construction. Quintero cigars are known for their straightforward, rustic flavor profiles, featuring earthy, grassy, and spicy-peppery notes. They offer a medium to full strength experience, making them appealing to both new and seasoned cigar enthusiasts seeking an authentic Cuban smoke at an accessible price point.
